Not having the mobile phone switched on means that critical time and date stamps cannot be verified, which means that the evidence captured can be questioned. In the UK, ACPO, (Association of Chief Police Officers) state that all seized mobile phones should be ‘shielded’. The Phone Shield does this – and more.
1. Avoids the problem of the mobile phone becoming PIN locked.
2. Avoids the problem of the mobile phone becoming PUK locked.
3. Window that allows user the ‘preview’ evidence on suspects phone secure in the knowledge that the phone is being investigated in a Faraday Situation.
4. Allows ON-Site acquisition of Mobile Phone Evidence.
5. No need for expensive consumables
6. Speeds up investigation times.
7. Reduces force/agency costs.
8. Re-useable
9. Portable – The Phone-Shield Faraday Bag by Disklabs can be fit onto the utility belt of a beat officer, or pocketed for simple, light transportation.
10. Negates the need for an expensive faraday cage
11. When spread over the cost of several examinations, the Phone-Shield Faraday Bag will pay for itself in little or no time.
12. To prevent the data from the networks communicating with the device, therefore stops any chance of evidence being tainted.
13. Prevents any chance of evidence being manipulated during covert acquisition.
14. Mobile Phone can still be turned on during flight, thus not losing any data.
15. Inexpensive.
Approx Size of Phone-Shield Faraday Bag:
When Sealed: 180mm x 160mm
When Open: 230mm x 160mm
The Faraday Bag is sealed simply by opening the conductive Hook and Loop at the top of the bag, dropping the suspects mobile phone into the Phone Shield Faraday Bag, then folding the sealed top over twice, sealing the Faraday Bag again with more conductive Hook and Loop. Specially designed plastic coated material is used to provide the main component of the bag, (made with Silver, Nickel and Copper), then a conductive mesh is used to ensure that there is visibility into the Phone Shield Faraday Bag by Disklabs. The stitching is conductive, the materials are conductive, as is the Hook and Loop.
